Yesterday was a holiday break so I thought I would start this week’s post on a Tuesday instead!
For years (ever since Southwest Airlines began flying from the mainland to Hawaii), we’ve been heading to the Hawaiian islands at least once a year. It’s around this time of year when the school’s out for a week for “ski break”, and that’s when we usually ditch the cold and jet off to a tropical weather!
So far I have been stayed at Maui, Honolulu, Kona, and a short stop at Kauai.
Kauai… I remember having a 5 hour layover so thought, I’d go out and have a quick lunch to see what they have. My short adventure was not enough so this is in my next island to stay.

Kona… I have been at the Big Island twice, yet there are still lots to explore. Some activities I have done and won’t mind doing again were the coffee belt drive, lava tube hikes, atv tour, night snorkel with the manta rays, and of course the imu ceremony during a luau. This island reminds me of Iceland with the underground oven, its active volcanoes, and as you land you would see lava fields everywhere.

Honolulu… I am not sure how many times I have been here, but this one is a very touristy island for sure. If you are with kids or first timers who would like to be with a crowd of other tourists, I think this Oahu would be the place to go. There’s also high end shopping. It reminds me of Miami with the tall buildings by the ocean and condos with boats by the lagoon/harbor area.

Lastly… My favorite has been Maui. I find it to have a bit of everything: touristy spots, good shopping selection, lots of food choices, good hiking trails, and the unbeatable sunset and sunrise views up Haleakala.

Here’s a short clip of my favorite Hawaiian spot. It never gets old!
