April Fool’s Day in Curaçao

I have always been fascinated with turquoise waters where you can enjoy a dip and snorkel the wonders under the sea!

Curacao has been on my list since I visited Aruba last year. One of the ABC islands and the largest of the 3 westernmost islands in the Caribbean Sea. Alas! I finally booked it for spring break… the realized it falls on April Fool’s Day!

As soon as we landed, the warm humid air was there to welcome us. Rented a car but to my dismay what turned out a 15 minute drive ended up driving double the time! Not familiar with the streets with narrow paved roads filled with potholes, I was honestly a little scared. Maps and Waze kept telling me to go the direction where the streets were blocked for the parade happening on Easter Monday… I arrived on a holiday! I had to figure out the map on discover the streets on my own… joke’s on me! Ha!

After getting situated in the hotel, I hurried down to see what the parade was about… it was fun! Lots of music and dancing under the sun. I believe it’s also called their harvest festival.

Although I got April Fooled upon my arrival, first day turned out to be fun!

I will post more tips on this travel in the coming days! Enjoy some of the photos and videos for now.
