At this point, I have wandered through more than half of the United States, so it only felt right to give America’s 50 states their own corner.
This page is where I’ll be collecting travel tips, sample itineraries, favorite stops, hidden gems, and the occasional “How did I end up here?” story from my adventures across the country. Whether you’re planning an epic cross-country road trip or simply looking for a quick weekend escape, I hope you’ll find something useful here.
I usually do not mind doing short trips, usually weekend trips… which I find great if you are one of those who are trying to save up vacation hours for somewhere else. Not every adventure needs one or two weeks of vacation time and a meticulously color-coded spreadsheet. Some of my favorite trips have involved a Friday evening departure, a questionable amount of coffee, and being back home by Sunday night.
This page is also a personal challenge of sorts: documenting all the states I have visited and sharing what I’ve learned along the way. From national parks and scenic drives to random roadside attractions and surprisingly good gas station stops. Every state has a story!
What do I count as a visited state?
Simple: I have to physically step foot in it!
That could mean:
- Exploring the city for a week, a day, an hour, or even a few minutes
- Visiting a national park
- Taking a quick walk across a state line
- Stopping at a gas station and leaving with a souvenir I absolutely didn’t need
What doesn’t count?
- Airport layovers
- Looking at a state from across a river
- Flying over it
